Establish SMART Marketing Goals for 2022

It is the year 2022. This is the time to set new marketing goals for your company. If you look at the performance record of your 2019 marketing goals, you can determine which goals need to be adjusted or expanded.

It is common for the departments in an organization to miss their marketing goals for the year. This doesn’t mean the team members didn’t try hard enough. Perhaps the goals were simply unrealistic or unattainable.

For this reason, you must set goals which you know are attainable in 2022. This can be done by setting SMART goals. These are goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound. Corporate managers have used SMART goal marketing strategies for over 30 years and they’ve proven to be successful.

Let’s explore the details of SMART goals below.

Specific

You need to set specific marketing goals rather than generic marketing goals. Your marketing goals must identify which specific short-term tasks you’re trying to accomplish. All of your marketing goals must work toward achieving your business goals.

Measurable

When you take action toward a goal, you’ll want to measure the results of the effort. If the results cannot be measured in numbers, figure out a way to determine the progress of the effort. Figure out how often you will want to measure the progress of the results throughout the year. Every 3 months? Every 6 months? Measuring your progress will now become another marketing goal.

Achievable

You need to set achievable and realistic goals. If you’re goal is to generate $10 million in 6 months, then you’re going to let yourself down quickly. But if you set a goal to gain 500 leads within a year, then that is actually achievable if you implement the right marketing tactics.

Relevant

Are your marketing goals relevant to your organization? Set goals which make sense for your team members to accomplish. Don’t set goals which are not possible to accomplish. For instance, if your goal is to increase sales through social media, but your company doesn’t have a social media account, then your goal is not relevant.

Time-Boun

Setting time-bound goals is critical. These are goals which must be accomplished within a certain time frame. It is easier for team members to manage their time if they know what needs to be done and when.

Conclusion

If you implement each of these ideas into your marketing goals, then you will have a set of SMART goals that will work well toward making the objectives of your company come true.
