SnapChat Trends and Predictions for 2023

Despite a difficult season, with doomsayers saying that SnapChat was on its deathbed, SnapChat has been growing steadily, proving the naysayers wrong.

With quirky filters and unique approach to online interactions, SnapChat has been drawing in the gen Zers by the millions. If you want to gain insight into how to incorporate SnapChat into your business operations, it would pay to keep tabs on emerging SnapChat trends for 2023.

New AR and VR Features.

Among the crowd-pulling features that SnapChat employed to make a mark, two stood out:

The first was the introduction of ephemeral or disappearing content. This was a big hit for young people because they could share whatever was on their minds without having to see it all the time.

The other was introduction of AR filters that completely changed the way people made and shared content online. The SnapChat lenses also were a game changer in content creation, enabling users to edit their pictures to show the passage of time.

As if that was not enough, SnapChat in 2019 released 3D features that enabled users to take 3-D photographs of themselves. All these innovations were a big hit with gen Zers.

In 2023, users can expect a lot more filters from SnapChat. Consequently, businesses ought to master the skill of how to use these filters in making their content if they want to stand out from the crowd

Stiff Competition with Instagram.

The vanishing content format was the stand-out feature that helped SnapChat gain online users. However, Instagram was quick to catch on, stealing the thunder from SnapChat. This could be one of the factors that helped Instagram register a meteoric rise, from 159 million to 500 million stories daily.

However, with the rumored removal of the like feature from Instagram, it stands to be seen if this will up SnapChat’s users since likes are used to measure a brand’s campaign success.

More Content for Gen Zers (13-24 years).

SnapChat recently developed Snapgames for users. The games, developed by Zynga and other big names in the mobile gaming world, are accessible in-app and have been a big hit with Gen Zers.

Snap originals and docuseries are also other new offerings, primed to draw in the younger population.

Increased Advertisements.

Social media is currently the fastest growing advertisement platform and SnapChat are eager to key into the growing demand for social selling.

With features such as Story Ads and AR lens, SnapChat marketing trends are headed towards the expansion of the platform to make it an ecosystem where businesses can thrive.

News and political content set to increase

In 2023, SnapChat is set to invest more in political programming, owing to the success of their political news show that had to be moved from Weekly airing to daily airing based on its success among SnapChat users.

With top-level candidates developing a SnapChat presence, 2023 is expected to be a year of political programming as SnapChat seeks to adapt to users behavior of viewing more political content.
